Premium Backpack

“Let me start off by saying I am making a warranty claim for the best bag I've ever owned!

I've had this Premium Backpack for so long that I'm not sure exactly what year I purchased it. I think it was 2005 and I've used it daily since then (at least 7 years) to transport my 17" Powerbook between home and office. It's also been my go-to weekend bag that easily fits a toiletry kit and change of clothes with plenty of room to spare without leaving behind my laptop and assorted accessories. Over the course of that time, I've flown domestically at least four times a year and twice internationally. It has always been easy to place in an overhead bin, and fits nicely under any airline seat. Many times it's been loaded up with my 35mm camera, three lenses, flash unit, a portable drive along with my computer and, although heavy, the straps and handles have showed no stress and look to me just like they did when I first got the bag. It has outlasted three laptops and been on more trains, planes and automobiles than most people. Other bags of mine rarely lasted a year of daily use, but this is one impressive bag.

I’m having an issue with the zipper, and still want to keep this bag. Because of the overall quality of this bag, I've already ordered a ScanFast Checkpoint Backpack that I look forward to using on my next flight. Keep up the good work.

“I would like to let you all know that you have a very good product, although I'm sure you know that already. I have had my Dell brand labeled premium backpack since 2004, and it has served me extremely well. I am always on the go, and this pack has never let me down. It has protected 3 laptops; been on a camping trip to Big Sur full of gear (not to mention a laptop); flown all over the country; been in and out of several industrial manufacturing plants many times; traveled on my back on many mountain bike trips to and from work; and has been rolled over in 2 motorcycle accidents, the most recent of which was a 50mph head on encounter with a car when the driver decided my side of the road looked better than his own.

Through 8 years of this, I have never had a single issue with your pack, and it is always loaded with 30-50 pounds of gear, tools, knives, clothes, and whatever else I need on a daily basis. Very few purchases have impressed me over the years, but this pack impresses me more than most. Your pack is more durable than much of the camping gear I've had over the years - gear which is meant to take a beating.

I'll be buying more of these in the future, for myself and my employees. Keep doing what you're doing.”

“I travel in and out of Alaska all year, usually to places that are warmer. I needed a computer backpack that was easy to hang a jacket on once I got to warmer places.

I got the Mobile Edge Premium (MEBPP1) to replace my "perfect" computer backpack (Targus Sport Deluxe Laptop Backpack (TSB312-315)) when the zippers failed after ~4 years of hard use and I found it was no longer available.

This pack is bigger (will hold everything for an overnight business trip easily), as noted by other users, and it will actually hold a Lenovo T61 plus an ASUS Eee PC 1000HD in a protective sleeve and all the extra gear without being stuffed. Substantial impact protection in the computer sleeve; thinner fabric than my old Targus.

Outside gear pocket very nice; big zippers that occasionally hang in the fabric. If you want to stuff a jacket under the top flap, this is the only way to go as far as I have found.

“I hated to give up my old bag (a BBP Hamptons) which was perfect for me, but I bought an 18" screen Dell laptop and it just wouldn't fit. I bought this one based on what I saw on Amazon and the clear statement it would hold a laptop the size of my new one. When it arrived, it was clear that the laptop would fit and be adequately padded. I guess I just hadn't imagined how truly large a bag it would be. This is a like a full camping backpack, so there's plenty of room for books, cords, power unit. It has several smaller pockets and some internal hooks and pen holders, etc. But it's a *big* backpack.

One complaint I have is that there is a large flap that comes down and buckles on both sides. So you have to unbuckle this flap to get to the zippers of the pockets. I'm not sure what purpose the flap serves, but for me it's just one more step to get to my stuff. Esthetically the colors (silver over black) are cool enough, nothing extraordinary or cutting edge.

In sum: this is a big backpack that holds big laptops with comfortable straps and padding. For the price it's a much better deal than Tumi bags, etc. And it travels well enough on planes---I can get it under the seat. But be careful--it's easy to fill it up with a lot of stuff which will make it heavy to carry.
