Here at Mobile Edge we aren’t in the habit of endorsing products, but in this crazy travel season where we’re contending with non-seasoned fellow travelers, unpredictable weather and the juggling of getting away from it all, we thought we’d share some of our favorite tools of the trade:
Noise Cancelling Headphones or Earbuds: Of course the Bose Noise Cancellation Headphones are on the list of must-haves, but they aren’t for everyone’s budget or taste in size. A nice alternative are the Monoprice Enhanced Active Noise Cancelling Earphones. Priced at a fair $80 you are sure to enjoy a quieter environment without the pocketbook stretch of some other brands.
Power, Power, Power: Of course you never want to leave home without your laptop, tablet and mobile phone chargers – we even write ourselves a note to be left at the front door as one final reminder to pack those goodies. And sure, some hotels will let you borrow any chargers that have been left behind by others guests or you may be able to pop out to the closest store that sells your device. But who wants that hassle? Instead look at universal chargers like the UrgentPower 5200mAh which is a universal smartphone/USB device battery charger.
Digital Camera: In this day of 67% of people owning smartphones you might think the digital camera can be a bit dated. But anyone who has hit capacity on their mobile phone while on a picturesque vacation will tell you – nothing beats the storage power of a digital camera. Point and click camera options are ample but since we are a bit tough on our technology our recommendation would be the Olympus Tough TG-3 and you can store it and the accessories in our Ditty Bag.
MacBook Air: When they say Air, they mean it at just 2.38lbs. Available with 11″ and 13″ screen options, the also boast 9 and 12 hour battery life, respectfully. So even for those long flights this computer can keep you company for working or entertainment. The only downside for some is that there are only two USB ports so peripherals are limited (or you can just pick up a Mobile Edge Slim-Line 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub – on sale now for $14.99!).
Pedometer: Whether traveling for business or pleasure, knowing how much ground you’ve covered by the end of the day is totally satisfying. And if we’ve learned anything from our extensive business travel it’s that walking is a great way to squeeze in a workout – and justify that tasty meal at the end of the day! You may want to consider FitBit, the Nike Fuel Band, Jawbone Up or the stylish Samsung Gear Fit.
RFID Cases: As evidenced by the recent cyber attack by Russian hackers – the world is an increasingly risky place to store digital information, and yet it’s required for so much of today’s activities. RFID products help protect items like credit cards and passports from falling victim to identity theft. This technology is so smart even the president of the United States uses it! Mobile Edge is pleased to make available passport and wallet sized versions for just $19.99 and $29.99.
Of course these are just the tip of the iceberg in great products we love. We’d welcome any of your ideas to share about your favorite gadgets and gear.
